Few milestones generate as much excitement β and anxiety β as crawling. From about 5 months onward, many parents find themselves watching their baby intently, wondering when they will get moving. And when a friend's baby starts crawling earlier, the comparison and worry kick in immediately.

Some babies skip traditional crawling entirely and find other ways to move β scooting, rolling, or going straight to pulling up and walking.

What Crawling Requires: More Than You Think
Crawling looks simple, but it is one of the most neurologically complex activities a baby performs in their first year. To crawl on hands and knees, your baby needs:
